Default Attention Defi EGT gauge owners...

Hey chaps,

Ive a small question, what sort of temps does your gauge read under what sort of driving conditions?

Ive just swapped from a very accurate K-type thermocuple setup that used a multimeter to read the k-type.
Obviously this was just a stop gap till i purchased a neatehr setup. However even with a full load blast through the gears im struggling to get to 650deg c on the defi.

Under the same conditions the thermocouple would read in the 850s??

Can anyone help? do the Defis need caliberating???

Frayz,
Was the same sensor used for both readouts?
Any changes to the sensor connector to get it to work in the Defis?
Same mounting point on exhuast and same way sensor is mounted?
Has either setup been claibrated so you know which guage is/was reading correctly?

Full chat aon the Defi's ( on a correctly tuned car with around 11.5AFR) will be around 850C. Mine read this and a second, different model test unit confirmed the figure!

Hope this helps.

I used a K type like whats used in our work dyno cells and ran it to a multimeter, it read around 850 on full chat with around 895 @ WOT in 6th about 150mph with 11.4 AFR.

The Defi has replace the thermocouple and is mounted in the same location, (uppipe around 3" below the turbo)

The Defi reads around 650 max and thats with me giving it a right lot of stick

My Defi reads 800ish during a reasonably spirited blast. It's in the collector below the uppipe flange on my GruppeS headers. I have seen it a little higher on occasion. It used to be mounted in the same place as yours, Frayz, and read slightly lower.
