turbo glowing hot
went out for a run out with the lads the other night for about ten miles, not going foot down to the floor because it was country lanes and dark.
But when we got to the pub i could smell oil burning, so lifted the bonnet only to find the turbo glowing red hot.
Just had new breather pipes fitted aswell and the car is stuttering but not all the time.
Any help please will be welcome.
MY51WRX by the way.
thanks paul.

Turbo's have a tendancy to glow hot, hence they have a heat sink over them with a "hot" warning sign on
Dunno about the rest, sounds as if you aint attached something properly?

totally agree about very scary but i didnt expect it to be like that because i wasnt giving the car loads, just a steady drive out but up a few hills, plus the smell of burning oil, hence the reason for new breather pipes last week

If its stuttering like you say, it could be a slight misfire sending unburnt fuel thru the turbo, Ive seen the same thing happen to a cat with a misfire, needless to say it destroyed the cat.
Turbos glow anyway when the've had a bit of right foot death but check your leads incase they have been disturbed when the breathers were done.
