Default Mot failure - Emissions Help!

My93 wrx just failed MOT on emissions - This is with a std exhaust put back on the car.

The car idles fine but as soon as the revs are raised the fuelling starts to run rich!

Any suggestions much appreicated

I bring good news!!

Any import before Sep 95 is exempt from the full cat test, as it doesn't exactly match the DOT register.

Therefore, your car should be tested with the non-cat test which is much more lenient.

Happened to me with my MY95 WRX

is a remap required to better control the fueling

still worried that the car is running to rich!

Any help on this would be great

You can't properly remap early ecus, therefore you would need to change it and go down the Apexi Power FC route. Quite expensive I'm afraid, about £800 all in.

How is the car running? you might have a boost leak someware so when coming on boost all the air isnt going to the inlet and then overfueling, do you have a boost gauge?

imports do tend to run v rich anyway as standard. Check and clean the airfilter may help it a bit

Is the lamda sensor working? Mine failed once on emissions due to that.
