Default Is it possible to blow a cylinder with a coil pack??

As above, can any one advise if on a normal engine (no mods) a standard 4 pot dry ignition coil could damage the pistons sufficiently to require an engine rebuild?

Car in question is a Focus, it appears to have happened twice! I know there is a fault with the coil on this vehicle (overheating due to its position in the engine/material its made from), but have never heard of it blowing the cylinder & piston.

There is a lot of money involved here so any advise, sites to look on would be most appreciated.

Cheers

Rich
