Angry Knocklink Turned Red

Hi Gang..

Have i got cause for concern??

My Knocklink hit a red today when i was having a little play with a porker. Ive never seen it light red before but i was giving it some and think it lit up when i hit the rev limiter, obviously backed off straight away. Ive hit an amber but ive been told RED is bad.

I always give the car a good blast from time to time and ive never lit up a red the only thing i can think of is ive always filled up on optimax even though the cars mapped on ultimate & today for the first time in ages i filled up on ultimate could it be this.

One more thing is lighting a red as bad as people make out & if so what do i need to do next??

Most likely bad feul as Reggie said, try some octane booster in there and see if that cures it. Ultimate is generally not well liked by mappers! Maybe your ECU dialed insome extra advance for the Optimax you've been using and now will have to retard cause of DET. Have a word with your mapper.

It is more than likely as a result of hitting the limiter. As long as it is not reading high on the Knocklink when you drive it as you normally would then you should be fine. I have had the CEL flashing via my PFC as a result of hitting the limiter and it doesn't appear to have had any negative effects. Just need to change gear sooner!

Opps, missed that! It's quite likely. I'd still advise the poster to have a word with thier mapper though, just to be safe.
