Default What ECU!?!?

Hey there,

I've got a MY96 Impreza WRX STi 555. The ECU in it is a W9 but its been chipped by prova. Im led to believe that these chips are not to good on our fuel over here, so was looking to get a standard ECU, Subaru UK tell me i need part number 22611AC700. Im not sure what this is as all i see the ECU's refered to in 2 digts (e.g. W9)! Theres a V9 ecu for sale on e-bay off a My96 STi would this be ok to fit?

Thanks
Wayne

Is it a 4plug ECU, with the 'chip' in the top left corner ?

If so, then you can just return the ECU back to it's standard map if that's any use to you - might save you having to buy one.

If you want to do this - let me know - and i'll dig out a picture of how to do it.

Hey,

Yer thats the one i think!!! (Can't get to the car yet!!). If the plugs are near you the chip is in the top left! Do you mean reconnecting the J1 link? Was thinking about that but still not sure if i have the right ECU in there!!!

Thanx

I saw the V9 on Ebay, don't beleive what they tell you.
A V9 is not off an STi but a WRX Wagon, so only setup for a TD04 Turbo and 10psi of boost.

A U8 is out of a 93/94 WRX and runs 11.47psi.

A STi 555 should have a 6K ECU the same as a STi 2. This should peak at 13.64psi.

So i should have a 6k ECU in mine!! I have read a post some where that said a W9 was off a STi but i can't find it anywhere!!! Im so confused now!!! Subaru dont help cos all they give me is a part number which isn't printed on any of the ECU's!!

How can i actually check that i have a STi engine in mine! Is there a number on the engine i can check against a list?

Thanx

W9 is Pre Sept 94 WRX RA, pst Sept is a Z5
6K is STi 2, 7K is STi 2 RA

Engine Code for an STi 2 (on the strut top) should be GC8C4ED

You should have a Carbon Fibre Strut Brace, Intercooler water spray resovoir, Silver Intercooler and a built By STi badge on top of the alternator belt cover.

I think your seats should also have some STi logo's on them.

Oh! and a dead give away is the STi 555 only came in Solid Dark Blue.

Editted, as just found these....

Well i had a look the Vin plate all matches up and the colour and strutbrace are correct. But i reckon it may have had an engine change. Its a black intercooler and there are no badges. also no waterspray but it looks as if its been removed, guess i'll have to phone up Subary with the engine numbers, what one is it theres a 6 digit number below the intercooler is that it? It also sais BB29 on it and 03 12 in box's?

Thanx
