the bottom half od the engine, block, pistons, rods, crank, bearings etc.
You would then need to add to that an oil pump, water pump etc and cam tensioners etc

Craig,

Not sure if you got my e-mail or not, but normally a 'short engine' comprises of the built up block complete with crank, bearings, rods, pistons and piston rings.

If your engine has let go and you want to go with a 2.5 engine, besides a short block you are going to need to buy:

New Oil Pump
New Oil Cooler (known as a Modine - it will be contaminated by bearing material)
New Head Gaskets
Cam Belt
Inlet and exhaust manifold gaskets

You are going to need to scavenge from your old engine (and thoroughly clean):

Sump
Oil pick up
Windage tray
Water pump and thermostat
Complete cylinder head assemblies and head bolts (consider getting ARP studs though)
Cam belt tensioner pulleys
Cam belt tensioner and bracket
Cam belt covers
Complete Inlet manifold assembly with injectors and rails
Exhaust manifold
Sensors
Water cross pipe
Engine mounts
Fly wheel
All drive wheels and the timing wheel

Basically you scrap your old short engine an replace it with the new one

Depending upon where you are in the country I would seriously suggest getting someone who knows what they're doing to do the work for you, I am a little biased here (having worked for the guy) but Zen Performance (http://www.zenperformance.co.uk/ - 0845 055 9366) are sensibly priced when it comes to engine rebuilds and will do a proper job.

If you want to source the parts yourself talk to Zen or Mark at Lateral Performance (0208 420 5444) and tell them I sent you ;-)
