Default Flamer kit help

Basically, I've intalled a flmer kit and it worked for about 10 inutes. Then stopped!

Took the cicuit out of the module to find a simple 555 timer circuit connected to large 2N3055 transistor. The transistor had melted the plastic lid and failed, th 555 timer was also knackered. So.....

I replaced the 555 and the transistor with new items. Inbetween th pulse signal from the module and the coil, I installed a Maplins car ignition module (So the Maplins unit would take all of the current and discharge from the coil.

Again, used itcontinously for about 5 mins, and it is broke again! I'm not to ure why this is happenening because the Maplins circuit should be taking the current load, so the module with the 555 timer shouldn't have any strain at all and should continously pulse????

Can anybody out there help me?????

is the 2n3055 sitting in a heatsink? by the sounds of it, it's overheating and melting the case, if not, you'll need a T03 heatsink and mount it on the case, but don't short the 'sink out to ground in anyway as this will overload the circuit and damage the 555 timer
