Swapping ecus
At the moment on my99 I have a ecu with codes E3 a800. Problem is I just bought an ecu thats meant to have been ecutek'd with the codes J2 af041 and the car wont fire with this ecu fitted.
Does it matter what model no. is on the ecus to go with certain cars? Both cars are my99 with 3plug ecus or am I missing something obvious?
Any suggestions would be great.

Sorry to report mate but an Af041 is from an STi 5, so not a suitable replacement for a UK ECU.
The Cam and Crank sensors are swapped. You could swap the wires over where they go into the ECU connector and it should start but I wouldn't drive it like that.
The ECU would need remapping again to suite your car. As the Fuel/ignition maps will be dangerously wrong (according to Bob Rawle @ BRD) and also the boost control will be setup for a VF28 instead of a TD04 Turbo.
It's not the end of the world but it's gonna cost you about £250 to get it running well.

OK cheers for that. Only thing is your right its a uk car, but its got an sti engine and vf28 turbo at the moment. Would this change what I need to do to get it running? What are these wires I need to swap? Cheers

Just need to swap the Cam and Crank wiring then.
Swap Connector B136 Pin 5 & 6. Take note of the connector keying tabs, to be sure you are counting from the right end.
You have to do this when fitting an Apexi too.
I just used a couple of bullet connectors so I can swap back and forth.
