Question HELP-ECU DIAGNOSTICS

A friend had a problem with a pro-drive T reg 2.0 turbo. Downloaded from thread the saxonfields ecu diagnostic, reset error codes & sensor pages. There is ECU diagnostics instructions but this appears to be an historical fault code system. In the manual, apart from this historical fault code system (ie. read memory system) (2 black plugs joined), there is another fault code system called a D-check mode. According to the manual this will check and detect faulty parts whilst the engine is running (current fault codes) (2 green plugs joined, 2 black plugs disconnected). When this D-check was tried we just got the check engine lit permanently.
Can anyone advise why we didn't get any fault codes as described in manual?

You need to connect the black to black and green to green

turn ignition on fully but do not start the car
you should hear the fans run
then foot to floor on accelerator pedal
hold it there for 2 seconds
foot half way
hold it there for 2 seconds
foot off accelerator
start car
go for short drive until check engine light flashes
if it's a contant pulse there is no error
if it a combination of slow and fast pulses, thats your error code.
disconnect green and black connectors when done.

If you sensors are all very close to the spec level then the check engine light will start to flash the all clear very quickly. Mine does it when I pull off the drive. If it takes longer then it is working a bit harder to calibrate.
