Default Attention Scottish Scooby Owners

My scoob (MY02 STI) was in for a major service (50k) and cam change yesterday. The car was at T*WN & C*UNTY subaru in ABERDEEN. They phoned me during the service to tell me that the Hydraulic timing belt tensioner was leaking, and would I like them to go ahead and replace it at a cost of 140. Having already been ripped off for a brake pad replacement a few months earlier, I declined. I then remembered that the car was still under extended warranty. I called them back and was bluntly told they'd overlooked this and indeed, it was covered...........How convinient. I phoned another garage friend who specialises in Jap cars and he told me that a customer had been in that went to the same garage and was charged 700 for a new fuel pump !!!!. BEWARE.

P.S. only went there to keep up the warranty and receive the dealers service stamp.

I was told that as long as the garage doing the work is a scoob specialist the warranty would still stand with the dealer.......................I was told this by a friend 1 day before it went in and was to lazy to change to some where else.

As far as I know garage just has to be VAT regd.and use manf.parts warranty will still stand, I think this is the "law" and dealers might try to tell you different, but the trading standards will keep you right. This allows you to use your preferences and still have warranty.
