New Age CEL advice required
I have just brought a 03 New age Impreza, it has a ScoobyWorld exhaust from the downpipe back.
Whilst driving at a constant speed, the amber CEL lit up and hasn't gone out.
I have searched on here for some help, but need some clarification.
Do I need a CEL fix as the car has a decat? The rear o2 sensor is fitted.
People say to switch on and off the ignition 5 times to clear the fault, should the car be started or just the ignition?
Any help would be great as I don't want to waste money going to local dealer when a few pence CEL fix will work.

Thanks for the reply, will I still need the CEL fix as the car has a decat center section, the downpipe is still the original, although not for long.

I had the same problem with MY03 WRX. The light won't go away properly until you have a remap. CEL fixes aren't very reliable plus if you get a remap you get the extra power and fun !!!

You don't need a CEL fix for your decat centre. If the problem won't clear with the 5 starts, then I'd say you have a dodgy sensor or some other unrelated problem.
When you change the downpipe you will need a CEL fix. Or as said previously, better to get a remap at that point.

Thanks for all your replies, CEL now gone out. Must have needed the 5 restarts. I had tried this, but very quickly after each other. Maybe it needs to be started, left a few mins etc.
Will look into a remap, any suggestions welcome of best place to go, bearing in mind I am in Northamptonshire

Its been a few weeks, and the CEL has only come on once.
I know there will be a few shouts of noooo but when i picked the car up it needed fuel, so went to local garage where car come from and put "normal" fuel into car. Using this fual is when the CEL light came on. However have since filled up with Tesco 99 ron, and no CEL.
My local Subaru garage wanted 25+vat to check CEL light so i thought i would order a cable from tactrix and find out for my self, so using ECUflash i downloaded the map from my ECU, but i don't think this software allows you to check codes unlike ecuexplorer. The car however does now feel quicker and pulls better in gears, could this be that the ECU has been reset and is now learning again, or simple using better fuel??

Northamptonshire remap = Zen Performance, Wellingborough.
However, your mods don't really warrant the expense at the moment.
I've not heard of problems with mechanicals CEL fixes, only electronic ones.
The mechanical fixes are spacers to put in between the rear O2 sensor and the short decat pipe.

Thanks for reply, was thinking of using Zen for service, then after that going to fit decat up pipe (already got) downpipe (probably scoobyworld cat downpipe as don't want to keep taking cat on and off for MOT. Will also changed turbo to Andy F hybrid or TD05 with front entry and also FMIC from Harvey although he doesn't know it yet, this will all prob be next year. Goal is about 290-300bhp but with reliability as car is every day driver.
