Question Replacing Knock Sensor - Intercooler off?

Hi, sorry I'm a bit of a scoobynet **** as I only pop in when things go ****. Appreciate any help you can offer. I've got cel code 22 - Knock sensor. So it's off to the local dealers to get a new one. I guess the error code means it's actually gone wrong rather than just detecting det? Did an ecu reset and it came back.
Anyway I'm off on the hols on Sunday in the scoob and need to get it sorted tomorrow. Think I've located the little bugger underneath the intercooler to the right hand side but looks a little tight to get in and spanner it. I think the IC has to come off. How hard is this to do? I don't really want to go draining and refilling owt. Thanks in advance.
Oh and do I need to torque the sensor, if so how much.
Cheers

Getting the IC off is a five minute job. Undo the two IC bolts on the sides and loosen the hose jubilee clips on the turbo outlet, the throttle body-to-IC joiner and the dump valve hose if you have one. Pull the dump valve hose off first cos that's the bendiest. Wiggle the IC away out of the throttle body hose next, it helps if the clips are REALLY loose on this one as sometimes there is very little room to move the IC backwards out of the way. Finally wiggle the IC away from the turbo - there is nothing else holding it on except this pipe now so even though it might feel stuck, it's just tight and needs twisting to get it off. A screwdriver to pry it might help. That's it, IC is off.

The sensor should have a little white plug connecting it to the engine loom and i believe the sensor only needs to be tourqued up to 15NM, dont overtighten it because it could send the wrong signals to the ECU.

Guys, many thanks for the help.
Just got back from the garage (£65 lighter). Waiting for the engine to cool down and then I'll get stuck in.

Cheers again

Ok it's replaced and it's worse than ever. The cel light comes on straight away and it's good old code 22. Before it was intermittent and the CEL would only light briefly.

Could it be that I need to tighten this up a tad from 15Nm? I've seen threads that say torque setting is vital - To loose and it could send a misread to the ECU that it's knocking straight away. To tight and it's buggered.

HELP! PLEASE DOES ANYONE KNOW THE EXACT TORQUE SETTING FOR THIS PLEASE.

My PDF manual for a bugeye shows it as 24 Nm or 17.4 ft-lb.
