Cam Oil seal Sealant Query
Does anybody recommend usin a sealant of some kind around the end cam seals, as i keep hearing of these things failing at random, just about to re-fit my engine and would rather do any jobs like this now whilst its out, i did notice some rubber type seal on the end when i removed them.

No, just make sure the surfaces are de-greased, and the seals are inserted squarely, and deep enough.

If its the half moons your talking about,then clean the old sealant off
and use a good bead of 3 Bond in the groove of the half moon.
When you put it back on the head,you should have a visable bead of sealant
ooze out of both sides of the half moon- that is a good sign it has sealed.
The front Cam Caps which hold the front Cam Seals also need a Little smear of 3 Bond on the underside of the Cap where it meets the Head -
less is better here as you dont want to get it near the Cam Journal/Oil Way
or the back of the Oil Seal.
