It may not have a standard ecu/turbo etc... which isn't unknown for an import (especially if it's quite a fresh import).
A genuine 300bhp GTi-R (we have a track GTi-R putting out 320bhp) will feel far quicker than a scooby with just back box and panel filter. So somethings not right somewhere. Either the scooby is not standard or the GTi-R was a dog.
Tony.

When i had my 93 WRX on the dyno many years ago i got a solid 240bhp with full decat and induction, running Optimax and octane booster. To get just under 240 bhp as standard on just optimax you'd be an optimist.... or on a very generious rolling road.

100 ron fuel wasn't available in Japan when the 93 WRX was produced, therefore it should produce it's quoted power figure (providing the motor is in good shape) on UK SUL.
All the nonsense on scoobynet about the Japanese having 100+ RON fuel over a decade ago makes me mad
If you were to change to a "Z4" ECU (often available on here and regularly appear on EBAY) you'd make closer to 260bhp, also on UK super unleaded.

I would strongly recommend NOT putting a Z4 ecu in an early WRX wagon!
The early WRX wagon has a TD04 turbo. The Z4 has boost control for a TD05 turbo. The two together do not make for good engine longevity!
