Default sti type r ecu on wrx

could i use a type r ecu on my wrx that has the turbo and injectors from a type r? vf23 , and 440's. my wrx is a 96

From the sound of it the ECU is from a later car (maybe 97/98). If so it's a different form/fit/function.

thanks scott . it has the same fiitting as mine , ie 4 pin . would i be better off with a z4 - z5 for a vf23 and 440's ?. or just getting a scooby ecu piggy fitted ? would get an apexi but budget doesnt allow just yet cheers rob

No Type R ECU would fit a Pre 96, as they didn't release the type R until the facelift model 97 onwards.

Any standard ECU will potentially overfuel with the 440's. It will probably be OK on cruise as the lambda will try and control. But on boost it will overfuel.

I'm not 100% up to speed on the pec of the VF23. But it's probably quite close to a TD05 spec.
