As far as I'm aware your car has a TD05 as standard. An ECUTEK remap will improve things dramatically.

Your car will have a Td04 as std. If you buy from APi you can be assurred that the turbo wil be in good order. I'd be looking at a VF34/35. Td05s are very highly regarded, but are pretty cruel when mapped to their potential to the gearbox by all accounts.

Very good gains are to be had with supporting mods, see the following thread.

Not on a UK 2000 car Bri TD04 on everything that's why they don't go properly, compared to a jdm car. [ Ducks down quickly ]

The original Td05 off an Early WRX will not fit straight on to your car as they have an angled [ snorkel] inlet. Yours is straight and goes under the inlet manifold.

It is easy enough to do but if you just buy a used TD05 it will almost certainly need converting. We do that along with a number of other specialists.

The other thing to watch is that older TD05's crack around the cast iron exhaust housing under where the stainless clamp holds the two halves together. Once cracked it is a throwaway. They also crack under the waste gate 'button' and you'd just need to take off the wastegate actuator rod and look under the button and you'll see the damage immediately if it is there. Also renders it scrap.

They can be repaired but only with a new housing, welding may work for a while but will not last.

Whereas a VF28 / 29 / 30 etc is largely bullet proof and will do all you need without threatening the rest of the running gear. Converted TD05 will be fine too, IF you can find a good used one. New is available but the cost is around £850.00

Perfect used VF from APi is around £350.00 [ with a warranty ]

Good Luck David APi
