hi guys -

I have a wrx my94 and have noticed an odd "clicking" noise coming from around the air filter box - but only when I blip the throttle, NOT on idle. Sorry for the vague "whereabouts" description but you only burn your ear once when trying to listen to a hot engine while your partner revs it ................

any ideas?

i had the same noise on my94 wrx, turned out to be the boost selunoid at the top left of of the engine,above the air box

just done a quick forum search, other replies claim that ticking = GOOD - NO ticking = BAD!!

anyone confirm this?

the ticking sound is your solenoid and it should make this sound when it is working correctly

yep boost control solenoid will click as the thottle opens, quite when shut.
