it is possible but it would be expensive to do. I take it you are talking about a scoob?, if so then your best bet is to start with a higher spec model like a 2.0 sport.

i heard that it would be expensive alright but my only problem then would be insurance ye know! so its probably just as well to leave it until i am the right age and can afford the insurance!! would you have any other idea's for the 1.6 that could boost the power a little bit? i'm still waiting on a price for a kit, http://manic-motorz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8593, the impreza gdb at the end of the page and rather than having a sheep in wolf's clothing, just want a little something more than the average 1.6! so would you have any idea's on what could help? another idea is to fit a back axle off a turbo onto it for the 4 disk brakes, is this a big job does anyone know and for how much do you think it would cost? cheers

A better idea would be to try and mate wrx running gear on to your block, you'll obv need a new flywheel, clutch etc but hey your gettin 4wd! As for the turbo, id forget bout it-huge cost involved as EVERYTHING needs to be uprated (pistons, conrods, crankshaft etc), it would prob be easier to just drop an EJ20 in

you may find it cheaper insuring a standard 2.0 sport than a modified 1.6. Strange I know but can often be the case.

With regards swapping a rear axle so you can have discs all round, again it is a lot of work for no real purpose which will cause more headaches than anything (setting up brake balance etc)

Hey man,
completely off topic here, but could you tell me a little more about your 1.6? Like, what's the model name and is it 2wd or 4wd? what year/reg is it?
I made another thread as I'm interested in getting a 1.6 impreza but have no clue what to look for!
Thanks a lot.
