Talking What performance exhaust? Air filter??

Got a my00 uk scooby. its got a standard exhaust with both cats in it still with a remus back box. looking at changing and getting rid of the standard one,but dont want a non legal one that i have to put the cat back in for the mot,not to loud either.
Been quoted:
back box £250
centre 1 £90
centre 2 £90
downpipe £450
all gaskets £80
up pipe £125

with vat an labour on top it woirks out at a whopping total of £1827
is their anything else that is cheaper? that will also give me more bhp??

Also what performance air filters are best? What bhp gain would i get from this??

Any help and advice would be great.

I thought it was only the newage models that have 2 centres sections.

Scoobyworld do a much cheaper Cat downpipe for £299... http://www.scoobyworld.co.uk/catalog...products_id=76

A straight through centre and back box is around £90 and £250 respectively (inc VAT). Again I think it is just the newage models that have a cat in the uppipe so you may be able to save some money there as well.

I got my exhaust from Hayward and Scott... http://www.haywardandscott.co.uk/res...sp?category=13 and they reused my old gaskets without any issues.

As regards filters, I'd look at either an STI one or a Green panel filter, and as the green one is cheaper I'd go for that!

Hi, the newage Imprezas have 3 cats, and as you say the classics have 2!. Try ebay for a exhaust system they go quite cheap on there, and you could probably get any old garage to fit it for you. Personally I would only remove one of the cats it will still give you a BHP increase, but you wont have to mess about at MOT time. Also if you de cat the whole car you are wondering into the realms of a re map, otherwise you may find you have cel issues.

With a classic you have the back box a mid section cat and a downpipe with cat the mid section can be changed for a straight through pipe or one with a resonator if you want to keep the noise down both options remove the cat then you have the downpipe with a cat in which can be changed for straight through no cat or sports cat (100 cel ) which will pass MOT if you can do the lot mate some will quote 20-25bhp gain and better spool up.
