Default Where to get brake shims??

Ive got a godspeed kit and the original brake shims were binned a couple of years ago when this kit was fitted.

Now the pads are larger than OEM ones is it possible to get new shims for these? as they rattle around in the calipers which is getting on my nerves now....

any places to try???

I've never had this with my Godspeed kit, but apparently the cure is to fill the existing pin holes in the pads with that chemical metal stuff, then re-drill them.....

i had a sticky back pad thing that came with my mintex 1144 pads which cured this....trouble is that my new 1155 pads didnt....hence the rattle....if i just had access to those sticky pads then it would be problem solved....

sounds like the wheels about to fall off when you hit even the smallest bump

I'd be interested in the results of this thread.
My FRP501H DS2500's have started to rattle at low speed and going over speed bumps. From inspecting them I think it's the inner pad that needs a rubberised or metal shim.

I solved as similar problem with a Compbrake kit using stick-on Anti-Squeal shims from Allparts (Delphi part) I would imagine the Partco's / Cafco's of this world could also supply. Hi-Spec also do them mail order.

Interestingly the bloke at Allparts was saying they sell very few of these and don't always have them in stock as modern pads have an anti-squeal coating on the backing plate that renders them obsolete.

Yup, the Hawk HP Super (The track orientated ones). If you have the callipers with the single pin (the 17" kit), I reckon it would be worth replacing the bolt with one on which the thread doesn't run back so far toward the bolt head. I noticed that the main rattle comes from the pad sitting on this part of the pin (the inner pad normally) moving back and forth as the pin is thinner in the threaded section. The stick on pads certainly helped but my temporary botch of wrapping some sellotape around the thread seemed to help more.

Nope, have 18 inch kit with 2 pins that go through an alluminium tube.
I switched to DS2500 pads though.
