Question Methanol to the gasoline?? more octanes?

Please, i have heard that putting methanol in the gas tank you can get better octanes? is there any problem of damage to the engine? i dont know, maybe valves, filters, etc etc??

If the methanol helps to get a better gasoline, wich is the proportion between them.

how about one liter of methanol for 5 gallons of 97 octnae gasoline.

thanks in advance!
