you can get it to fit but it will not match the rear diff in your car.
You MUST get the right ration diff, the right propshaft length and the correct gear shifter all off the same car, but you can get t UK diff.

i think the 8 bolt box will fit the 4 bolt engine.
The starter motor off the old engine may need a local grinding to the box just to allow it to seat properly. in the scale of the conversion this is a small detail. You will need to use the mechanical speedo drive on the new box (simple)

Some have found the 6 speed prop will not fit the old car rear diff flange, bit of a chance I think.

Please try a few searches on the subject as I'm worried I might have some details not quite right!

I think it depends on the flywheel.

I used 6 sp flywheel and needed the starter from 6 sp.

If you use the 5sp flywheel then you can make the 5 sp starter fit.

All of above also applies, prop and diff fitting issues etc

No its different, the new age starter motors are computer controlled to cut out when you are flooring it etc and are not compatable, hence the price difference of about 300 quid between a classic starter motor and a new age one.

Well the STi7/8 on mine starts it fine.

Why would a starter stop when you floored it? Surely once the engine is running its purpose has finished till the next time

you need the cradle the linkage you need to shorten the prop shaft of your standard car pretty simple and i believe some mod to the slave cylinder needs to be done as well can all be done in about 4 hours from start to finish
and should only cost about a 180+ vat + gear box oil, cost for making the shaft short
if you get a uk box you will need a rear diff out of a wagon uk car 96 to 97
jdm not to sure
