Default Power Fc Remap

HI,

Im gettin a new power fc remap done by Andy F in a couple of weeks. At the minute i have fmic, new 440cc injectors, apexi ind. kit, 255 fuel pump and decat. Is there any other mods that could be done quickly before the remap that would benifit me.

Also can anyone give me a rough bhp indication of what i should be getting.

Thanks

Drew

I would get bigger injectors, because you will soon want more.

Uprated brakes as well.

Is a AVCR really necessary?

no.. boost control kit or similar yes.

AVC-R is a lovely bit of kit but you don't have to have it no.

What benifits will a boost controller give me and does the power fc not have that function or one like it?

the avcr will allow you to tailor boost levels for different gears, allow you to adjust the spool up etc, specific boost at certain revs etc, it just gives a lot more control over the boost on the car. It also looks funky as hell as well.

The power fc doesn't give those kind of options.

on the early cars you cannot run more than 1bar if the PFC is controlling the boost as the early map sensor tops out at 1.23bar and Apexi made the decision to restrict it to 1bar.

You have 3 basic options..

Apexi Boost control kit - a higher reading map sensor and a 3 port boost solenoid £150~200.

Electronic boost controllers - Apexi's offering is the AVC-R and is the best imho boost controller on the market but is also not cheap. ACV-R = £280

Manual boost controller - Boost set up under the bonnet to target boost and you cannot alter it without going under the bonnet etc.. £30~50.

Really you should talk to the mapper to discuss what suits you and your budget and what he suggests.

However if you are still on the original intercooler you don;t want be running too much boost through it as the intake temps will rocket.

Cheers for info its andy F that doing the map and i will be running a fmic and a 3 port apexi boost valve so will i still need a AVCR. I will try and get one before the map if it is necessary or benifical.

thanks

if but Apexi 3 port you mean the boost control kit then that is all you need (is Andy supplying that? if so then it will be the boost kit).

The AVC-R is better but costs more.. depends if spending out £280 is a problem or not..

Talk to Andy as he probably has an AVC-R in stock and might be easier assuming he will be fitting it for you etc..

Yea it is the 3 port boost kit as thats what he said i needed. Hes out of country until 24th but will check to see. He will be supplying the 3 port boost kit but would the avcr be a better option?

Also anyone like to guess on my approx bhp after map?

Its hard to say what your bhp will be and if you upgrade your injectors to 550cc you could expect figures of 320 depending on intake temps, weather and charge temps

the AVC-R is better it is just whether you want to spend the extra.

Any bigger then you'll need larger injectors, also a set of headers / uppipe to really see the benefits. But then you'll probably need to uprate the gearbox, thats if the remap with your current setup doesn't break it!

I'd say you'll be comfortably over 300 with your setup.

It depends on how far you want to go. If you go for a bigger turbo, then to take advantage of it you will need bigger injectors, thats why I said earlier go for bigger injectors as it gives you more headroom for future mods. You may also need a new uprated clutch as well.
If you want 320 ish bhp then the tdo5 is fine.

Your best bet is to sit down, decide where you want to go power wise, and then chat with your mapper for the requirments to meet/exceed those requirements. It is always better to have some leaway in your components so that you are not running them to their max straight away.
TO be honest though, with the amount of questions you are asking that says to me that you are not sure what you want, so if you get something done the chances are you are not going to be happy with it. I know it is a foruum and its good to ask questions, but you need to know what you want to start with.
