Can't describe this very well, sounds a bit like creaking from sailing ships rigging !!

It doesn't seem to happen when going over pot holes / uneven roads, but sound like it should.

I can only pin it down to the front of the car - can't be any more specific.

Without hearing it my Dad suggested it might be something in the power stearing system.

Not really but you will need to get the alignment checked after as you're distrubing the rack and will possibly move it slightly, best bet is to replace them with the Whiteline poly bushes.

BTW do you have the bump steer mod done??

 

The rubber bushes that secure the rack to the sub frame are pretty easy to replace, the rack is bolted to the bottom of the sub-frame so easy access!

 

No I don't have the bump stear mod done - I guess I will have after the bushes get done though :-)

 

Mine creaks and is the steering rack itself. I checked all the other possibilities first
