Smile Turbo or not??

Now this is really going to spoil my street cred but is it possible to have a (i.e. do Subaru do) an Impreza WRX without a turbo and if so, how do you know if you have one? (I don't believe that I just asked this but it is the only way that I can find out) There are no badges on the car saying Turbo. All advice welcome except the caustic or superior.

All WRXs have turbos, whether they are classic or new age WRXs.

The bonnet scoop is the biggest giveaway but if you want an impreza without a turbo, then newage is a GX and classic is a sport.

Your Turbo is left hand side of engine rear might have a small mesh top
looks like a big snail and you should have an intercooler looks like a small radiator on top of your engine near the bullkhead.

Default well....

Thanks for the extra advice but it seems to go quite well but not that well. There doesn't seem to be a kick at 3,000 rpm (or so I have been told to expect) - it gets into its stride at 5,000 rpm and flattens around 7,000 rpm so I dunno - I am off to look under the bonnet!!

According to the rev counter, my Scooby red lines at 7,500 rpm.

Default Piccies as requested.(not)

Firstly, my mistake - red line starts at 7,000 rpm and ends at 9,000 rpm
Piccies not attached as I don't have that privilege. Cheers Entrailies

Very easy to tell. A turbocharged Subaru will have an intercooler fed from a bonnet scoop, which as someone else pointed out, looks like a little radiator on top of the engine, rather than at the front.

As above, theres a great big intercooler on top of the block on the turbo models, you wont miss it!
