Max boost/power from 2.5L semi closed deck?
Anyone know what the recommended max boost/power is from a semi closed deck block with uprated internals etc? Is it the boost pressure max that limits things as it may cause the cylinders to barrel?

depends on the cylinder liners id say, a normal 2.5 has very thin liners, there are a few never ones that are being developed that have much thicker liners so can hold more boost/power.
On a thin linered one then i wouldnt want to run more than 1.6 bar.

dont take my word for it but i wouldnt want to run any higher than that on mine, which is a built 2.5 with the thin liners. In a perfect world id prefer to have a larger turbo running aroudn the 1.3bar or 1.4bar max.

OKay cheers.
A friend of mine knows a mapper thats run 1.8 bar on a std 2.5L without problems (except for the pistons are they;re oe) and mine are uprated parts.

depends who built it, and how confident you are....americans run 2 bar on standard internals but they dont last long. Couple of runs up the dyno generally

I'm confident the engine can take it with uprated internals (it was built by Quick Motorsport and they're top class rally specialists), but just not so sure about the oe sti semi closed deck block. I think it would take 1.8 bar and be okay.

It's already got over 1000 miles on it (I ran it in using the map from 2L - not best idea but it worked okay). She's now serviced and ready for remap.
