Ahem.....

If it's split I would advise you to drive cautiously, and off boost. The engine will be pulling in unfiltered and unmetered air from a point after the Air Flow Meter, therefore you risk running lean when on boost at higher revs.

I'm in a similar position at the moment, and will be replacing the pipe with a silicone item. You will not need a remap once you've replaced the hose, and shouldn't take you long to change it, although it is fiddly.

Hope this helps,

Brian.

remap is recomended for that mod.......... as it flows far better than the truncated standard item

Just found a narrow slit in mine just in front of the turbo, which is a pain in the ****. Obviously it'll be best to replace it with silicone, but before I get the new induction hose installed, can I just bodge up the slit with silicone sealant for the time being? Presumably that side of the turbo is never going to get up to huge temperatures.

One thing though...I can't quite understand why it would need a remap just because of a slightly better flowing induction pipe.

Anyway, can someone chip in with a suggestion for fixing the slit in the pipe temporarily?

The temporary fix I'd suggest is the one you've already mentioned - silicon sealant.
