Difficult to tell as there are so many other driver-related variables as you know!
Facts are that the colder you can get/keep the compressed air the better, so it can only help IF the water is atomised.
All of us who do use it (including the EVO) add ice cubes 5 mins before the runs so the water is at about 5 Deg C to start with.
I don't bother with it on the road, only for the hillclimbs.
If you can, do it.
Mine is a totally manual system, switch on after the 64 foor marker from the start, and off after the finish line. A 60 second climb takes 2 litres of water.

Would there be any difference in power by just swapping the top mount for a front mount on an early classic (with a remap)? If so what sort of power boost would we be talking?
Is 300BHP acheivable with just a front mount, full decat and panel filter on a non sti?

The FMIC will not really give more power, but what it WILL do is allow you to 'hold-on' to what you have for a longer time as it keeps the charge air temperature lower for longer.
If you want an easy 300 bhp then start with an Sti, new ecu and several other mods to hit 300 easy, 350 with a little patience and 400 at a push.
My Sti v3 using an Sti v8 TMIC hit 407 on the RR (realistically a 380 imho), but the FMIC now on allows the power generated to be available for much much longer when really pushing the car.
