Default Max boost on a Hybrid FMIC

I'm currently running 1.8 bar on a Hybrid fmic but as always I'm thinking ahead to my next round of modifications and probably 2 bar.

Does anybody know how much boost they can safely handle before they start to swell or spilt?

Cheers

Wouldn't have thought there was a problem there, Colin. AFAIK Harvey has been using them on his car's, since day one.

Im sure the core and pipes are well up to it, but i would seriously think about better quality hose (samco/sfs) and clamps (Mikalor/Norma)

Cheers for the feedback guys.

Dave - TBH I've never really thought twice about the i/c since I fitted it but when through at Andy's with Coulty the other day we got to talking about the next round of mods. He planted some seeds of doubt in my head about the core being up to the job but wondered if anyone had already been there and done that.

Mark - Couldn't agree more about the hoses, very spongy and not confidence inspiring at higher boost levels. Samcos in the near future.

Me as well on mine!

You dont happen to know the sizes of the hoses at the left and right of the core do you? cant be bum to take bumper off and measure!

If you sure about doing this, i can get a very gooid deal on better clamps than the hybrid items as the company i work for deal with Norma clamps. May as well get 2 sets??????

If you want the ultimate hose clamps, I've always used 'Hi Grip' stainless steel ones. You can usually get them from hardware stores or marine suppliers and they IMHO they're as good as it gets - for a reasonable price.

These ones you mean silent running?

http://www.jcshi-torque.co.uk/higrip.htm

They my be cheaper, but in a FMIC application with all the inherent movement in the engine/pipework/hoses that you get i would not be happy about using that type.

no way will they give as much purchase as the Mikalor/Norma type clamps. I would not even use them in a low boost application on a FMIC never mind the 2.0 bar playsatan is looking at.
