Does anyone know if this will work in an MY98 uk turbo and if so would I see a decent hike in power from it?

 

Short answer 'No'
Slightly longer answer : Different ECU type, Different Connecter. Even if it were the same you would have to swap the crank & cam wiring, and then it'll still be mapped incorrectly for a Non STi UK car.
