Default Down pipe - exhaust wrap

Am about to replace my decat downpipe with a grp A spec one. Now, I know exhaust wrap is good to maitain heat build up in the engine bay, would it be vworth wrapping it before replacing the old one?

In my opinion, it's a good idea, but, I may be wrong. Are they any disadvatages with this?

It's a good idea due to the fact that hot gases travel faster - therefore by wrapping the downpipe you will maintain higher temperatures within the pipe and hopefully better flow.

The only downside I'm aware of is that there's a chance the pipe can crack if it gets too hot (nearest the turbo). I've wrapped mine though.
