It should pull out but I have only seen this once on a old legacy engine were the sensor was jammed/stucked.
I tried wd40, even tried pushing it out from underneath (covers & crank wheel removed) but still no joy. Eventually the sensor was destroyed.
Not what you want to here but if its working ok leave it alone.

What model year is your car.
Has the engine check light come on at all.
Does it turn over but not fire up? Did it just recently fail to start? Can you explain a little more.

It is a uk 1999 2000 turbo awd.Engine check light hasn't come on.Has done it since i bought it nearly a month ago.Engine turns over ok but struggles to fire until i touch the throttle slightly.Just had it serviced including new plugs which i hoped would cure the problem. It has just had a new battery but still sounds a bit lazy turning over on the key.Is this normal?
