Default Loosing/using water ?

Bit of a strange one this, Impreza Type R 98 has starting to loose/use water, you only notice it when the heater stops working, luckily I always leave it on at the moment so I get an early warning. There are no signs of leaks, no exhaust fumes in header tank, no oil in water or vice versa & no bubbles in header tank. System has been pressure tested to 1.9 bar & nothing. On a hard run there was moisture on header tank cap (0.9 bar). So I am suspecting its that, as the engine has had a lot of mods I have gone for a 1.3 bar cap (still waiting for delevery). No signs of steam at all, presumably when travelling at slower speeds & idling the pressure may be low enough for the cap not to expel steam?
Is there anything else I could check, any ideas

Cheers

hi mate. just had the same problem with a sti 3 RA, took it to power engineering who carried out a chemical test rather than a pressure test and turned out one of the head gaskets was slightly leaking.... my problem started exactly the same as you described and eventually caused it to start overheating... take it to a specialist before anything develops...
