Hi all wonder if anyone can help!?! (my97 sti import 4dr)
Slowing down to a right/left turn into side road as soon as I dip the clutch 1st/2nd gear the the engine cuts off. Lights are still on in dash.
This happens once or twice during an hours drive!!

Also my speedo has stopped working for last few days and this engine cut off thing is happening at same time. Could the problem be connected with speedo and engine cut off??!!!
Any advise is appreciated.

Not sure about the MY97 but my 94 WRX speedo stopeed working last week and car went into limp home mode, wouldnt rev past 4k, fixed the speedo and bobs your uncle, and fanny's yours aunts second cousins brother in law!!!

 

alright mate. i had the same problem on my 97 turbo2000 except my speedo didn't stop workin. have u put any engine mods on as mine stared after putting on an induction and straight though exhaust system. it turned out that it was the idle control valve which are adjustable. i just increased the idle speed slightly and its been ok ever since. hope this helps mate. rich

 

been driving easy last few days. will pass 4k rev tomorrow and see if it goes ok! btw, had fuel cut defencer fitted, dont know if that will over-ride the limp mode! thanks anyways.

last mod was done a yr ago. never had these problems!

 

How did u fix speedo? or where did u get a replacement? how much roughly?

not sure on the my97 but would imagine it is similar. Check near the gearbox dipstick and you may see a unit with a cable attached going onto the gearbox. This can come loose and stop speedo from working. (caught mine when I fitted my decat downpipe and it dislodged it enough to stop the speedo working and to give me the cel)
