RCM Oil pump
Hi guys,
Been out of the scooby game for a few years while dabbling in the world of skylines. Im just getting back into it and wondered what the main differences are between a std oil pump and an rcm oil pumps are. Back in the day when i was invloved the only difference was a pressure releif valve. What i want to know is whether the flow is increased at all.

the oil pumps are identical in every respect apart from a modified 'relief' valve that can help the stiction that occurs in the std part...............
personally have found that most that suffer stiction are extreme mileage or poorly serviced...........

Can't see why you would go to the trouble/expense of a Jun oil pump.
The flow and pressure from the O/E pump is adequate. The RCMS mod is simply a different plunger to avoid the plunger sticking. It may also avoid cavitation within the pump because of the different shape of plunger.
It is possible to increase oil pressure by using a stronger relief spring or shimming the existing spring. [For shimming read put a washer(s) underneath.]
I am not sure this is advisable in some circumstances and it is certainly NOT for those that have thick oil eg15w-50 and drive over 2.5k rpm from cold.
