Purchaced a key a while ago and just tried to use it on my00 impreza awd, the engine turns with the key, but then splutters and dies . If i use the old key , the engine turns and runs fine ... Any ideas please

 

Do what? That doesn't make sense!!

The only thing I can think of, which I'm sure wouldn't be the case, is if the key was coded for the immobiliser, and the code on the new key is wrong. Wouldn't have thought the key would be that advanced though.

Surely if a key is capable of starting the engine then it is ok. Once the engines running the key is redundant.

Proper strange that one.

 

Yep the keys not coded correctly,So the fuel pump wont run with the new key.Its starts on the fuel thats in the system and then runs out and stops.
