Hi all, new to this forum and was after a bit of advice, in the process of changing the o/s cam cover gasket on 97 Wrx and wasn't sure how tight to do up the bolts, seems a common problem so hopefully someone will know.

My advice.....be very careful !!! SO easy to break them and have the thread stuck into the head. I would say try 8-10 lbsft first and then tighten by hand until you 'feel' they are tight enough without breaking them.

Have done this gasket once and it leaked but have put sealent on this time aswell, was worried that if i went too tight it might force the gasket out, hope it works this time so i can use it again!!

According to the workshop manual - 5Nm, 0.5kg/m, 3.6ft-lb (they're all the same just different units)
