carried out the diagnostic check on my 95 uk turbo 2000 and it came up with error 54> choke control system........what the hell does that mean?? is it bad?? cars fine,i reset ecu before i did it so its a new code?
someone please tell me its not bad??or what it is exactly?

not sure but i would guess thats the automatic choke. Does it start badly cold or run badly when warm (use more fuel than normal..i know its hard to guage on a scoob). I never had this in a scoob but its usually a bi-metal switch. I have no idea where in the intake it is or how much it will cost!
Basicly the choke would control the fuel intake to a cold engine. Rather like a manual mix control when the engine and air was cold. About 15 years ago the auto choke came into use and its been a pain ever since. The bi metal switch is a strip of 2 metals that warp under heat and make a contact. This contact will tell the ecu to alter fuel.

 

yeh i gathered that,err no problems as far as i can tell mate,runs sweet when hot and starts fine from cold?? strange
