Default Fuel pump

Hello,
i'm currently running my 52 plate wrx with a decat down and centre pipe with up-rated back box. also a green cotton panel filter.

looking to fit a stainless exhaust manifold with decat up pipe. then when funds allow going for a re-map.

Will i need to exchange anything else on the car before i get it mapped e.g the fuel pump?

Also, does anyone know of a good place to take my car for the re-map around somerset? and ideas on cost.

Cheers

Changing the fuel pump is a good idea if you're going for a remap, it's not a necessity but it can be advisable as a precautionary measure to ensure you don't suffer any fuelling problems.

A remap will cost you £600-£700 inc VAT, depending on where you go for it. Powerstation did mine and I'm happy with the results, they're based in Tewkesbury so not too far from you. They map on a rolling road.

Alternatively you could go to Bob Rawle in Malmesbury (IIRC) near Swindon, he's one of the best mappers but is slightly more expensive than Powerstation. He also maps on the road, which has it's pro's and con's.

I would question why you've fitted a decat downpipe without having it remapped?

My understanding was that you should definately remap a newage after removing the downpipe (and/or up pipe) cat - anyone???

Not an expert on newages, but I can't see any reason why you can't run around with a decat pipe for a while before getting a remap? OK it's a good idea to take it easy with the new components and keep boost down as well as you can, then get the mapping done in the end, but I bet a fair amount of people spend a few months putting the bits and pieces together and gradually upping the spec until everything's in place, THEN go for the remap. Modders have been sticking aftermarket exhausts on every make, model and year of turbocharged motor for years without worrying too much about remapping...it seems odd that a newage Scoob is so different, IMHO.

Anyway, to get back to the question, yes a higher flowing fuel pump will help. If you've got it in mind anyway, best to do it before your remap, rather than after.
