Default Screeeeeeeeeeechin Noise with the revs!

Hi lads, just lately Im getting a 'whining noise' coming from the engine bay. Which will increase with the rev's. Im guessing its one of the belts at the front.

Cambelt was changed about 6k ago. Any ideas? impreza 93' 77k

Sounds a bit like the dodgems at the fair.

any suggestions, plz

Thanks

A boost leak can sound like a whine. Is it constant or intermittent? Do you notice a loss in performance?

check your power steering level.
Also does it increase in schreechness with more electrical load, (air con radio, lights, wipers etc)

I had this on my dad 94 Legacy Twin Turbo, we changed the belt and it whined rather loudly with the revs. Good description of the sound would be to say it sounded like the dodgem cars.

My dad who's been a mechanic for most his life said the belt was too tight so we losened it off by moving the adjusted back abit and it still whined. My dad didnt seem to care cos it was running alright and was a free car anyway.

but i reckon it was a dodgey cam belt adjuster that wasnt/isnt working right but like i said it his car was free so he isnt too bothered.

was your adjuster changed?

pour a bit of water on the belts one by one with the engine running. the sound will temp. stop when you wet the one to blame.
