Low down torque from a 3" pipe with a remap?
I now have a 3" Scorpion exhaust (standard looking tail pipe) and a Powerflow centre silencer, now sounds like a Scooby should. And what a lovely sound that is, a deep rumble at low revs then changes to a loud growl over 4k building to a wail towards the limiter, just what I wanted. Cruising at motorway speeds the noise is easily tolerable too.
The thing is I seem to have more power at the top end and it appears to less restriction up the rev range. The only down side is the increase in lag, 2nd gear acceleration from 20mph is now sluggish. I did read on some threads about the larger bore exhausts causing more lag but since I got the 3” for a good price I thought I’d take the chance.
Would a custom remap bring the torque back at the lower revs? I’m thinking of getting one done June time and I ‘m not sure at what revs the torque comes in? I would go for more torque and drivability than going for large peak power numbers.
Anyone got there engine set up this way?
Cheers
