Default Aftermarket steering wheel

Hi there,

Have a little query for all you scooby experts -

If I add an aftermarket/sports steering wheel to replace the (horrendously close to being something out of a mid-80s Rover Vitesse) standard one on my UK Turbo 2000, what happens with the airbag?

Obviously the bag itself goes with the old steering wheel (so that's goodbye to safety), but will I get any other side-effects, i.e annoying dash lights/audible warnings, wires everywhere???

Cheers

Tim

I changed the standard steering wheel on my scoob, uk spec MY96, for a momo wheel. Once the correct boss was found the column had to be chopped a bit to get a good fit and now the air bag light is always on but I believe there is a way to switch it off with a resister of some sort but as car electrics are not my thing best check that one out!
Never considered reversing it so dont know what would happen although my steering column had to be slightly modified to get the boss to fit correctly, tried two different makes and neither fitted perfectly tbh.
