Default Manifold spacers = boost increase ?

Just had some RCM Manifold spacers fitted to my MY02 STI Type UK.

Have now noticed that the boost seems to have crept up slightly.

I have 2 maps on the ecutek, (high/low) and both have increased by about 1-2 psi.

Should I get my map tweaked to bring the boost back down, or is this nothing to worry about. I haven't done many miles since this was fitted (ecu was reset too, by battery disconnect) so is the ECU still learning and will it bring the boost back under control ?

the spacers sure do work though. Pulled up today after a long drive, popped the bonnet and you could put your hands on the manifold and it was slightly warm.

engine mods are:

• Milltek 3” exhaust system inc sports cat
• GT Spec Gen II UnEqual Length Headers
• GT Spec Gen II Up-Pipe
• Walbro uprated fuel pump
• SX Fuel Regulator
• TEK3 Remap
• TD05/06-20G Turbo
• Power Enterprise 650cc injectors
• APS 725DR Front Mount Intercooler
• RCM Direct Air Box Feed
• RCM / K&N Cone Air Filter
• RCM Ultra Lightweight Pulleys
• 3 port boost solenoid
• Breather Mod
• RCM Manifold spacers

Thanks

IIRC..... you can't reset the newage ecu by battery disconnect

They stop heat transfer between the heads and the inlet manifold

colder manifold = cooler air charge, which ultimately means more power

Anything to reduce heat sapping......

You have just answered your own question, the cooler charge will increase the boost slightly but should not be anything to worry about.

spacers in addition to tumble deletes now mark ??

Not that it has any relevance to the boost increase mind you.

I'd guess if the charge is cooler (have you been/ can you monitor intake temps ??) so that could well be where the few psi has come from.

Sure I read a post from Mike Wood saying a battery disconect for a 'period of time' works on the new age.

As quoted above, it is due to the cooler air being more dense, giving more boost. The fact you have more boost, proves that the spacers are effective in keeping the intake charge cooler.

Hi Andy

I never got roound to doing the TGV deletes, but its still on the list to do long term.

I understand about the boost now. Can I use the 'Live Tuner' feature of delta dash to bring the max boost down slightly, as I'm getting some knocklink activity now when giving it WOT on the high boost mode

**update**

done a lot more driving today with full throttle/boost and the KL activity has goned away and the boost has settled down.

So I assume that it was part of the ECU learning process...
