I have a 1994 Legacy with the old type of ECU, so it doesn't store codes if you turn off the ignition.

About 3 times out of 10 when I start the engine, the check light comes on, but blipping the ign switch once I'm rolling clears it.

The car runs perfectly OK with the light on, it's just annoying to see it lit up.

I've tried reading the fault codes back without stopping the engine, but it doesn't store anything to show what the cause is...

I've tried all the local dealers, but they haven't been agents long enough to have been trained on this old a car, so they can't help me locate the fault.

I've been driving like this for about 100000 miles, so I know there's nothing wrong with the engine ( 233000 on the clock and still as sweet as a nut ).

Has anyone any ideas?
