Engine oil - weight/brand ? (54 uk sti)
Owner before me (via Subaru garage) had used GTX mag 5/40 engine oil.
Subaru service manual states 5/30 or 10/40
Castrol website recommends 5/30 (choose car/model etc), the only 5/40 oil I can see is for diesel
I am planning on 5k oil changes anyway, and assume the 5/30 would be fine for this? But theoretically a 5/40 would be better, its fully synthetic with the higher temp ability?
I have had a scout through faq's etc (this and other sites) but that has only confused me!
There does seem to be a LOT of different opinions.....
Or is it like the "what tyres" threads !?
???

Do a search and a can of worms will open!
If the car is not heavily modified and doesn't do autobahn / trackdays then 5w40 fully synth IMO.
If you wish to go this route, either Motul 300 or Silkolene Pro S oils come in this viscosity
