I have a 99 impreza turbo 2000

its done 75k with FSH, just wondered how many miles the engine is able to do if looked after, ie serviced tegularly, ill probably be changing the oil every 3000 miles

How many miles have folks on here done on the same engine?

 

I've seen a couple of UK Turbos with over 200k on the clock and still on the original engine

 

70k and running fine..

Seen cars with WELL over 100k running fine, have to stay all are standard.. Basically when you start fannying around with the engine expect to reduce its life expectancy seriously!

Its just a car at the end of the day, but it happens to have a turbo and the pistons point out the side but as with any car just drive it respectfully and mantain it correctly and it will be fine.

What is an MAF btw, ive heard alot about these but not read up on them yet

The maf is the mass airflow meter,which controlls the amount of air and fuel which is put into the car. you can find the maf at the back of the airbox conected to it,its square top with a plug,plugged into it on the right (in my case)

 

As below. On my MY99 car apparently the worst ones.... this one was brand new... albeit some vibrations and viola... big bill.... stay well clear of 'Bovs.. induction kits... and cheap fuel...' we should have a 10 commandments for scooby owners lol

Thought dump valve's were good for the car, do they cause problems?

 

my uk done 145k with rebuild n new turbo @ 70k,running sweet as,keep it well maintained it be fine (i hope lol)

 

how much did the rebuild and new turbo cost, and did you get that done because you had to?

 

Close to 150k and mildly tuned

Not a clue... It could possibly have been a dodgy MAF sensor 'cos that needed replacing after the rebuild, but I think the engine had a hard life before I bought the car.

 

186,100miles.. mildly tuned (740injectors, FMIC, TD05, Apexi blah blah)..

running perfect but pulling the engine very soon for a strip down.

126K Mild mildy tuned (if JGM's is midly tuned then mine is milder than that) going okay (touch wood - changing the popping and banging helped my knock count Simon, back below 20's again now)

Jolly good.. it did sound like your efforts in altering the map to get it to pop and bang had caused it.. glad it was.

Bottom end needed rebuilding at 110k. Oil feed to one of the heads had also gone meaning the heads were both replaced as well, so as near as dammit a new engine reusing the original block. TD04 gave up at nearly the same time.
