Default MAF Sensor failing?

On a MY98 Sti JDM - was out for a spin at lunch time and it's suddenly started holding back intermittently when boosting. Stuck my foot down in 3rd gear and at about 4k revs it jerked back then kicked in again. Tentatively tried accelerating in 2nd and 3rd gears and it's still holding back to a varying degree, although not as much as it initially did. It's running on Tesco 99, has decat Scoobysport exhaust and induction kit. I'm told it was remapped but nothing to guarantee it.

Should I start by changing the MAF sensor, or plugs, or...?

Cheers

Cheers for the pointer, I'll give that a go.

Apologies for the stupid question (this is my first scoob! but where do I access that plug? The picture says dash, but do I have to remove vast quantities of the dash before I find that plug??

Thanks :

No mate if you lie down so your head is looking up under the dash towards the steering wheel from the drivers footwell you will see a male and female black connector and also two green ones just connect the required ones up and disconnect when you are done

No dash removal is required
