Question Running MAFless with GEMS...

Shouldn't be to long now until I get the engine back and in... am considering getting rid of the MAF...
Have e-mailed Andy F and spoke to him about a few bits... now when I got the car... it has already had GEMS ecu with anti-lag fitted and mapped by Steve Simpson... with Gems I've heard you don't need to run the MAF... So why was it connected up???
What will the benifits be of running MAFless and what else will I need to do... ie pipe work, mapping etc...?

I've got a GEMS on my bugey running without the MAF sensor. If you want to ask Steve Simpson about it he can be found at TEGsport.

The plug may still be in but it should be disconnected further down and a new lead joined to it going to a probe which is usually tapped in underneath your top mount i/c. i have taken the old maf off mine .

Yep.... got that wire, goes to a Temp switch I think... I've gotta sort out having it plumbed into the FMIC pipework now...
Just couldn't understand why its the MAF is still connected up...?
I wanna replace the pipe all together and ditch the MAF... So can I just tie the MAF wire up out the way then?

just make sure that your 'map' is set for you to run in this way or you are getting a 'map' straight away, as you will have problems if you try to run without if its needed!!

I use a Link which also does away with the MAF so i binned it and had a stainless adapter made which enable me to use a bigger cone.
