My Prova ECU has gone **** up on MY93 WRX wagon and was wandering which replacement I should use. After doing a few searches on here the Z4 seems to be a popular choice. My car is pretty much std apart from filter and dump valve but believe the the Prova was chipped as it was running 1.1 bar boost. Am I right in thinking my boost will come down if I fit a Z4? Not too bothered if it does as I just want it back on the road.

Been offered a 2c ECU which is the same as mine.



Mine has the Prova chip installed and has the J1 resistor cut.



Is it just a matter of cutting the resistor and re-fitting the chip on the one I have been offered to get the ECU to how it was before mine blew.

God Nick I can't help you out much more than saying there was a Z4 in the for sale section a few days back

 

A 2C is not a wagon ECU, but a early 1994 Saloon.
It runs similar code to a Z4 but the maps from the earlier W6 and U8 ECU i.e 11.47psi rather then the Z4 12.7psi.

If it was running OK on that saloon based map, then I would expect it to run fine on a Z4 or any other saloon map.

try re-joining the link resistor to see if it runs. If it does it will be running on the 11.47psi base map rather then the Prova 1.1bar map. worth trying to see where the fault is.

 

Well got another 2c coming on tuesday so at least car will be back on the road. Will have a play with the link resistor and see if the chip is knackered later in week and if the chip is ok I may get it put onto new ECU and may even have a switch put in to run 2 maps. I know the 2c is not from a wagon but as that's what was in there thought i'd replace with the same as car was running perfectly fine before my troubles.
